There are 2 things about weight loss that are hard:

1) losing it
2) keeping it off

An intensive study, done at the University of Colorado, established that sustained weight loss was maintained by logical and disciplined people who wanted it enough. But you want it more than that right? Well there’s a difference between wanting to be thin and being thin, thinking thin, living thin everyday. Weight loss is not about eating almost nothing to starve the weight off. It’s not about resisting that powerful drive to eat until it hurts. It doesn’t have to be that painful.

According to psychologists, the first step to losing weight is to let go of the self imposed anger and deprivation and focus on finding happiness before starting a weight loss program.

Once you stop obsessing about losing weight, you will find that making the necessary sacrifices are easier than before. It is usually at this stage that the weight loss will begin. The most likely reason for a weight loss program to fail is resentment. If you are happy about the way you are losing weight the chances are that you will enjoy losing it and maintain your diet longer.

Get into a positive routine:

  • Don’t ‘lose out’ be proud that you have the strength to resist.
  • Do one thing at a time. Don’t start something if you have other things that need focus.
  • Don’t do it for someone else. This will lead to resentment and deprive you of happiness.
  • Motivate yourself, tell yourself something positive every day!
  • Set short term goals and make them happen.
